Everything is political, whether we like it or not. From the coronavirus vaccine to climate change, every facet of contemporary life is wrapped up in politics and this past year has only exposed it. How can we make sense of a world where more than ever the political is personal and everything is politicized? UP is proud to present our fourth print issue, POLITICS, where our writers deal with those questions. Art, and particularly public art like street and graffiti, is uniquely equipped to express complicated political ideas in a way that transcends the limitations of language. We’re pumped to be able to share this issue with you and continue with our mission of producing quality art journalism that makes you think and makes you feel.
Join us on Saturday 7/31 at One Art Space (23 Warren St) to celebrate the release of our fourth issue. The release party is an opportunity to toast to street art, pick our contributors’ brains about their writing, and get to see each other face-to-face after a year of not being able to party. We’ll start the festivities at 4 PM, carry on at OneArt Space until 9, and then head over to Lower East Side bar and frequent art battle site Sour Mouse (110 Delancey St) for an afterparty starting at 10PM and going as late into the night as we can keep the energy.
