Roger Sichels’ Smokin Hot Kiss Ignites Tribeca’s One Art Space | Oct 4, 2025
A single photograph captured in 1969, in the heat of both a passionate and unrestrained moment – anchors a new expeditions that bridges, eras, emotions, and creativity. Smokin’ Hot Kiss, the latest showcase from renowned photographer and multidisciplinary artist, Roger Sichel, opened with a glittering VIP reception at One Art Space in Tribeca, NY. The September 25th exhibition set the tone for a two-week celebration of love, rebellion, an artistic reinvention.
Inside the gallery’s striking glass facade, guests were greeted with champagne and gourmet lobster bites before being ushered into Sichel’s world. The juxtaposition between art and digital set the stage for a nostalgia balance between the two. The exhibition, one view until October 8th, is a tribute to not only Sichel’s most famous image but to the decades-long evolution of the artist who continues to merge counterculture with modern consciousness.

Known for capturing the untamed world of the 1960’s through his celebrated Woodstock and Beyond series, Sichel – also known as MaXi – has always had an eye for human connection in its purest form. Smokin’ Hot Kiss revisits that electricity while pushing into new frontiers of “neo-pop mixed media digital art.” His latest works, vibrant with political nuance and personal narrative, draw from a lifetime spent at the intersection of art, music, and technology.

Sichel’s creative journey is as eclectic as his imagery. In the 1990’s and 2000’s he ventured into the tech space, working on producing and licensing the autocorrect function. Which is now a modern-day form of communication. That same curiosity pulses through his art today, where analog intimacy meets digital precision.
Curated by MaryAnn Giella McCulloh and Mei Fung, co-owners of the One Art Space, the show reflects the gallery’s mission to spotlight both emerging and established voices shaping contemporary art. Since opening in 2011, One Art Space has become a fixture in New York’s cultural fabric – an intersection where artistic visionaries, collectors, and the culturally curious converge.

With exhibitions across New York, Miami, and Los Angeles as well as appearances at arts cultural moments from Art Basel to Coachella, Sichel continues to push the boundaries of art and experience. His 2023 ARTACOM Festival in SouthHampton fused art, technology, and community, much like Smokin’ Hot Kiss does on a more intimate scale. Inviting audiences to witness the enduring allure of passion, reinvention, and the human connection that binds them.
