Moment of Tree, Mi-Hyang Jo | Oct 27 – Nov 1, 2026

We warmly invite you to join us for the opening reception and experience Mi-Hyang Jo’s exhibition Moment in Tree in person.

Korean artist Mi-Hyang Jo’s acrylic-on-canvas paintings take one of the defining aspects of artistic modernism—gestural abstraction—to its aesthetic culmination.

In the painting Layers of Moment, Mi-Hyang Jo describes:

“I listen and respond through gesture, sight, and breath, allowing each mark to emerge from the paintin’s demans. What appears is discovered through this exchange–a record of two voices moving, pressing, and yielding until they become inseparable. As the dialogue unfolds across the surface, hesitation and uncertainty inevitably enter the work. It takes courage to choose them–awkwardness over perfection, and the unfinished over the predetermined. In an age of increasingly perfecting machines, hesitation, mistakes, and the trembling of the hand remain profoundly human.”
