“Discount for Ugly People”, Jorge Torrealba

One Art Space is pleased to present Jorge Torrealba, first New York Solo Exhibition, “Discount for Ugly People”. Jorge, from Punto Fijo, Venezuela, is a fine artist who has more than 10 years of self-taught experience.

The exhibition will show a large part of his art and will incorporate his new pieces in the exhibition “Discount for Ugly People” at “One Art Space” Tribeca, New York, which will take place from August 11 thru August 17, 2021. On view, this collection, Jorge plays with the idea of creating vivid popping colors objects, and subjects seen through the Artist’s narration which is marinated and embodied an unedited, playful densely yet expressive cursory dance of satirical surrealism. In this collection, he has passionately incorporated his Artist journey from the world of caricature to another level, is always recognized in any event he participates in despite language barriers. And his recent project during Covid-19, which won a documentary EMMY. This mixture of media has to lead him to produce one of the pieces called “The Migrant Odyssey”, this painting is massive in size and a feast for the sights. Every nook and cranny of the surface of this painting is a thread of Migration of human and animal narrative with an outpour of captative speed with its frenzy visual conversations.

Jorge, multitudes of accomplishment from a Documentary based on his life as a Venezuelan immigrant from the United States, which led him to be awarded the EMMY awards, on December 12, 2020, in its 44th edition. This documentary already has participated in 21 festivals, among which Jorge was awarded as “Best Visual Artist of the Year” by the Los Angeles Film Awards. And in 2016 Jorge Torrealba moved to the city of Miami, Florida, managing to win the award “Legacy Through Art of the World Poker Tour Miami, 2017” upon his arrival. It has also been recognized by the International Society of Cartoon Artists (ISCA) in 2019 for “The Most Innovative Technique” and “2nd place in Exceptional 3D Technique” and in 2020, with “1st Place, in Technique Exceptional”.
