One Art Space is pleased to present “Fragments”, a co-exhibition of contemporary artists of Bianca Romero and Marly McFly. On view from Tuesday, August 3rd through Monday, August 9th, 2021. Curated by Karin Housell.

The two-person show represents how each of these artists Bianca Romero and Marly McFly explore fragmented elements of today’s culture, society, and identity through their diverse lens. Both coming from a vast diversity of identity, they are still able to harmonize the intricate elements of life through art. Their different styles of collaging deliver powerful messages by blending pieces of familial traditions, pop culture, hip hop, fashion, bright colors, textures, and everyday faces. Bianca uses her mixed media collage art which is heavily influenced by the gritty NYC textures, to explore the different pieces and content we’re made of. Being multi-racial (half Korean, half Spanish) she’s always felt like an embodiment of her collage – a mashup of stories & cultures coming together creating something totally new; allowing her to express that even with these contrasting segments a harmonious story can exist on one canvas and lifetime.

Marlon explores different values of life from love, achievement, purpose, compassion by piecing together elements of current events and trends. With an inherent running theme of his own self-awareness, Marlon’s artworks challenge the viewer to examine what builds their own self-character.

Both artists are breaking through traditional boundaries through a visionary interpretation of Fragments. Viewers can piece together these “fragments” as they try to reconcile each individual artist’s realities against their own when revealing the hidden details and stories that lie beneath each layer upon layer. While also exploring the fragments of our culture and society through their unique lens
