STATUESQUE, Marco Vacchi , Art Book Limited Edition
$150.00
“Marco Vacchi makes photographs that make you feel uncomfortable, titillated, enticed, and somehow fetishistic. His subjects are almost naked people. Women mainly, but also men. They are white and Black. You want to reject his art as only satisfying his own voyeuristic needs. Yet, each image resists this, makes itself more than the sum of its parts. We see a blond. But her hair is super-blond, styled in an anachronistic way. Maybe she’s like an 18th century putti, a cupid with naughty, knowing, hyperactive intentions. She is placed in a classical setting. There’s a pillar. Everything says nostalgia. But then that falls away and you get a clever, wry sense of humor, with a very particular form of personal beauty. We are suspended in an uncanny Rococco via deep manneristic tendencies, shot through with a very male drive to look, see, love, pour over, comb every detail. Vacchi is a throwback. He is a studio photographer creating not fashion photos but his own private world. Beautiful bodies abound. He loves looking. He is dying for you to look too. We do. We join him and feel opened and uplifted.”

Marco Vacchi is a photographer from Ravenna, Italy, whose passion for photography began at just 11 years old. Fascinated by human expression, style, and diversity, he has dedicated his practice to capturing the essence of the present moment through the people he photographs.
In 2012, Vacchi moved to Manhattan, where he worked as an assistant to renowned photographers while studying at the Professional Institute of Art. He established his own studio in 2015 and quickly gained recognition for his striking portraiture and editorial work. His portfolio includes collaborations with iconic figures such as Alec Baldwin, Robert De Niro, and Jeff Bridges, as well as prestigious brands including Vogue Italia and Bulgari.
Vacchi’s work has been exhibited widely in galleries across New York and Italy. In 2017, he was honored with an Artist Membership from the Museum of Modern Art. Deeply inspired by the unique energy and style of New York City, he spent five years creating the photo series New York City From the Yellow Cab, which was later published as a book.
Currently represented by Magazzeno Art Gallery, Vacchi continues to explore the intimate connection between his subjects and their environments, using his lens to tell personal, visual stories with honesty and depth.
