Power, influence, and Icon status are as elusive as they are alluring. In UP’s fifth print issue since our launch in 2019, we tackle what it means to be an icon and what the icons we aspire to and use in our art say about us. The world of graffiti and street art is full of bombastic legends and iconic tags, and UP5 features exclusive interviews with artists such as CRASH, Mike 171, SJK 171, and D*Face among dozens of others. But more than ever, UP5 – ICONS doesn’t restrict itself to urban art. In UP5’s more than 35 articles, we cover the history of American flag, Hasidic Jewish art, Bob Ross, and superheroes, because for this issue, we wanted to think big.

In the spirit of thinking big, we have a whole weekend of events planned to kick off the UP5 release. Join us at One Art Space in Tribeca on September 15th-18th for an opening night party, an art market with local vendors, a game day, and an artist talk with several of the featured artists from the magazine.

All events are free of charge and open to the public. Keep an eye on the @up__mag Instagram for updates.
